Rediscover Traditional Knowledge
in European Creative Industries

With reDiscover project we want to bring traditional craftmanship closer to contemporary designers with innovative approaches. Our initiative has two main objectives: we want to put traditional knowledge at the service of modern design and fashion, and preserve old techniques and know-hows for next generations as our common value. European traditional knowledge is an untapped cultural resource that can effectively support the professional development and fulfillment of young artist. By traditional knowledge we also mean methods, the use of tools, materials, forms and patterns, practices and skills, and the relation to natural environment. Furthermore, it also includes folk heritage and folk arts. This transfer of knowledge is necessary for collect, preserve and introduce of these intangible heritage assets to young professionals and to engage new audiences. The project wants to create a long term intersectoral collaboration between design and cultural heritage industries which connects the strengths of these two fields to meet the latest challenges of the modern age and become more competitive at international level.

The main objectives of the project: reinforce the capacity of young design and fashion professionals with cross-sectoral knowledge transfer, draw attention to the importance of green transition and environment friendly practices in applied arts, safeguard traditional knowledge and know-how with innovative digital tools and engage new audiences.

To reach our objectives we will implement the following activities with the cooperation of five countries: cross-sectoral student workshops, a traveling exhibition, a European youth conference and a new online educational and knowledge center.
